 Pharmacist jailed

A pharmacist jailed for making fraudulent claims may not be allowed to run a pharmacy.
A South Auckland pharmacist has been jailed for 18 months, after making fraudulent prescription claims totaling just under $220,000. Andrew Pellowe has been given leave to apply for home detention, but will have to wait for an internal disciplinary panel to decide whether or not he can run a pharmacy again.
Pellowe was alleged to have made more than 8,000 bogus claims. HealthPAC Group Manager Quentin Wilson says this case is thankfully a rare one. Mr Wilson says Pellowe co-operated and gave a full and candid interview about how he made the claims.
