36 organisations and individuals have been named in a motion alleging they breached suppression orders and prejudiced the trial.
It asks they be found guilty of contempt of court and imprisoned and or fined.
Pell was found guilty in December of sexual abuse of choirboys at Melbourne's St Patrick's Cathedral in 1996.
The verdict was suppressed until this February, when prosecutors decided not to proceed with a second trial.
