Women's Refuge Contacts
Women's Refuge Contacts - Aotearoa New Zealand

Members of the National Collective of Independent Women's Refuges (NCIWR), have supported women and children affected by family violence in Aotearoa New Zealand for more than 25 years.

50 refuges linked to NCIWR provide 24-hour crisis phone lines; confidential emergency accommodation; community support and education programmes throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. The National Office is based in Wellington. Refuge advocates (all women) provide support and advice to any woman in need because of family violence, whether she chooses to go to the safe house, stay in her own home or with friends or family.

NCIWR promotes the vision of women and children in violence free communities, whanau, hapu and iwi living te Tiriti o Waitangi. Some refuges provide services specifically for and by Maori; most refuges provide services for both Maori and non-Maori; two refuges in Auckland are run for women and children from Pacific Island nations. One refuge in Auckland provides services specifically for Asian women. A full NCIWR website is being developed. The rest of this page provides refuge contact details only.

In an emergency call the police on 111
or the 24-hour crisis phone number of the nearest refuge to you
