Gail McFadyen
On Wednesday 17th March 1975, the day began as usual for the McFadyens. Graham McFadyen left for work as a teacher at Kapiti College around 8 am, leaving Gail in bed. She arose and as was her usual routine on a sunny day, she did the housework, then took the central walking track to her favourite sunbathing spot, just south of the Paekakariki Surf Club building. She was wearing a blue bikini under a white muslin shirt, an orange towelling hat and jandals. She carried a blue denim bag containing her jeans, white top, caravan key, small change and insect repellent along with a yellow foam plastic squab.
Six days later her body was found in a shallow grave, on the track behind the surf club leading to the caravan park.
